Fuzzy model-based reconstruction of paleovegetation in Ethiopia

We introduce a new method to compute plant distribution in Ethiopia under paleoclimatic conditions using fuzzy logic. Using published map of the potential vegetation for we decipher boundary main units shown, reflecting modern climatic temperature and precipitation this region. Fuzzy logic these values on GIS platform then derived computational vegetation. Comparing it with original shows general correspondence about 90%. By changing underlying climate parameters, used model hypothetical simulate vegetational response changed settings. Finally, maps are presented two scenarios: (i) colder drier condition (such as Last Glacial Maximum) (ii) warmer wetter last interglacial) than today.
